Gorilla Tracking in the Congo

Your small group -- maximum 8 guests -- will travel alongside the world's premier experts studying the critically endangered western lowland gorilla.
You'll meet Dr. Magda Bermejo, the first scientist to enter this remote region and successfully habituate gorilla groups in the Congo Basin. For 15 years she has been accompanied by head tracker Zepherin Okoko, whose knowledge of the gorillas' movements and behavior is so intimate and intuitive that his presence adds an immeasurable advantage to your experience. Their shared expertise will give you a firsthand education that only a handful of travelers are privileged to have.
Our gorilla base, Ngaga Camp, is located deep within Odzala-Kokoua National Park. Here in the untouched rain forest, seven different gorilla groups, 105 individuals in all, live in close proximity to our camp. We'll track two of them on two separate expeditions.
And there's more -- moving on to Lango Camp, NHA Expedition Leader Gavin Lautenbach leads our search for forest elephant, forest buffalo, sitatunga, rare birds, and other subspecies unique to this habitat. Gavin has explored the Congo rain forest in varying seasons, and his keen eye will unveil fascinating sightings.

If your interest in African wildlife and genuine adventure transcend the typical safari circuit, join our expedition into the virtually uninhabited tropical jungles of the Congo-Brazzaville. You'll travel knowing that your presence contributes to the western lowland gorilla's survival, demonstrating the economic benefits of ecotourism.
