This
February we celebrated the Nordic Sonar week, which was completely sold out
with over 12.000 people attending both in Stockholm and Reykjavík, with
resounding success of the two simultaneous festivals.
In total Sonar showcased more than 100 performances by international and local artists across 8 stages, shared between Reykjavík and Stockholm. Sonar Reykjavík, held in the Harpa auditorium at the heart of the Icelandic capital, welcomed a total of 8.900 visitors. During three days the attendees enjoyed over 70 scheduled shows on 5 stages while the Swedish Sonar festival featured nearly 40 acts across 3 stages. Tickets sold out weeks prior to the event and in total 3.600 people enjoyed the festival’s 3 stages held in Münchenbryggeriet, the central district of Södermalm.
Along with immense performances, both showcased the Nordic scene’s exceptional pool of artistic talent combined with an appetizer for the next Sonar Barcelona from: Jon Hopkins, Bonobo, James Holden, Downliners Sekt and Evian Christ, among others.
In 2015 the third edition of Sonar Reykjavík will take place the 12.13 and 14 of February and the second edition of Sonar Stockholm will be held the 13 and 14 of the same month.
Sónar Barcelona has also added more performances to its program including a large quota of spectacular shows from: Pretty Lights, Flux Pavilion, Rudimental and Yelle; producers and legendary DJ's like DJ Harvey, Tiga and The Martinez Brothers; the experimental work of Ben Frost; and emerging figures redefining the landscape of electronica like Machinedrum, Laurel Halo, Recondite, UZ, Visionist, Alizzz and DJ Nigga Fox, not forgetting influential artists from American label L.I.E.S. among others.
